We could also easily call this episode “Oh yeah…that song!”
The 90’s brought us a lot of bangers. This mixtape is filled with bands that skyrocketed to top spots on the Billboard charts and played endlessly on the radio, but quietly disappeared in to your CD collection never to be heard from again.
You’re going to love these songs or hate these songs but you’ll almost always think to yourself “I wonder what happened to them?” after each song.
We snagged Tahlena of Bite Me Bambi to fill in for Julia this week. Enjoy!
Be sure to check out their latest music video for “Like That”
Watch Bite Me Bambi on Twitch this weekend!
Another mini-sode that’s as long as a normal episode? It’s what we do best.
Be back real soon with a regular-sode.
Is this a minisode about music or about how far along Julia is on her E.R. binge?
It’s a little bit of A and a little bit of B.
It’s time for a minisode babysode ittybittytittycommitteesode. Enjoy!
St. Patrick’s Day is around the corner and what better way to celebrate drinking from home than to make a mixtape dedicated to Irish bands and classic Irish drinking songs. We did both because neither Julia or Mike could figure out what the exact theme would be (We’re not professionals people).
Welcome to our Singles-sode / minisode / short-sode. Mike and Julia pick their favorite songs of the week to get you through until our full-length shows come out.
All your favorite music can be traced back to Black musicians, plain and simple. In honor of Black History Month, we made a mixtape of Black pioneers. These are artists that certainly have paved the road for current Black musicians, but unfortunately may not have received the recognition they deserved. Artists added to the mix include Disco queen Slyvester and Nigerian afro-funk pioneer Fela Kuti. We also added bands like Led Zeppelin with the musicians their stole their sound from, Muddy Waters.
Honor, respect and support Black art not just for Black History Month, but all year long.
Articles used for this week’s episode include:
Great Black Heroes - Nina Simone
Solidarity in Sound - Big Freedia
Back with another Singles-sode. Incaseyou’rewondering a ca-single or cassette single were frequently purchased when all you wanted was the hit song. It was kinda like iTunes before the internet.
In these Single-sodes / mini-sodes, Julia and Mike pick out their favorite songs for the week.
Love is in the air...but you can't smell it because you should be wearing your mask outdoors. A romantic candle-lit dinner for two...but likely not because you should be staying indoors as much as possible.
ValentiMe's Day is a little odd this year, but thank goodness for music. We put together an ultra romantic mixtape just for you ValentiMe. Share it with someone special or keep it all to yourself. Enjoy loves!
Weeeee’rrrrrreeeeeeee baaaack! New year, new us, and only 2 months late.
We are happy to feature Telepathic Traffic and their dreamy cover of “You’re Wondering Now” on our first #singles show back. The band features multi-talented Friend-of-the-Show Harris Pittman. We love the hope he brought to this song. 2021 is going to be a good (or just better) year.
Check out Telepathic Traffic on Spotify, Apple Music, Youtube, and Bandcamp.

It’s something better than a recap show! It’s a show completely created by our listeners. We asked everyone what songs they had on repeat, what songs they loved, songs that helped them get through the year when things got to be TOO much.
Thank you to everyone who continues to play our mixtapes and listen to our show. We appreciate you so so much!
Here’s to more fun mixes in 2021!
A very merry Christmas rendition of our Singles-sode this week. Enjoy!
It’s the same songs every single year. Over and over and over. This year is no different, but we tried our best to mix things up a bit. On this week’s new episode hosts Mike and Julia pick one Christmas song each and only play different versions of that song.
We are starting our 3rd round of custom mixtapes! You can pick the theme yourself or get an extended playlist of one our episodes. Tapes are $12 and all proceeds go to Save Our Stages .
We are obviously music fans and we’re willing to bet you are too. Independent venues and their employees are struggling right now. We want to be sure they have a future and we have the opportunity to visit them again. Please consider ordering a mixtape or donating directly yourself.
It’s a Singlesode y’all! and we have a very special song we’re playing this week. Friends of the show Powder Pink & Sweet have a new single out called “Grey Day”. We are pumped to play it for you.
WOOF! What a year this month has been! It time America takes a little break, exhales a bit of relief and DRINK.
We’ve earned it. We’re making progress as a country. While we still have a looooonnngggg ways to go, we’ve definitely earned a drink or two (…or 5, let’s be real here).
Enjoy it! January 21st we get back to work!
2020? Am i rite? This election has been especially brutal with mind numbing debates and daily scandals. On the plus side, in less than a week we will have a new president (yes, we’re choosing to be optimistic)! Knowing the weight of this election we reached out to our listeners to help build this mixtape. Listeners submitted songs that are helping get through these months or remind them of what’s to come on Nov. 3rd and Jan 21st.
Thank you to everyone who helped us make this episode! Together we made a truly excellent mixtape. Together we’re gonna make this an excellent country for all.
Welcome to our Singles-sode / minisode / short-sode. Mike and Julia pick their favorite songs of the week to get you through until our full-length shows come out.
We love them, we miss them. Music brings so much to our lives that it hurts deep when an artist passes away. This year we had an extraordinary amount of musicians pass away due to Covid-19. We wanted to play you their songs as well as other artists who have recently passed as a reminder of the gifts that they left for us.
