Brian Mashburn of Bite Me Bambi stops by to chat about Cover Songs and decide once and for all which is better: the OG or the Cover?
We grew up in the 90s in Orange County. As much as we love Ska, we grew up loving Hip Hop just as much. Well, maybe host Mike more than Julia. This episode is full of 90s Hip Hop throwbacks that will have you throwing your hands in the air like you just don’t care.
Just a few songs for your drive with the windows down on a Sunday.
We did it! We picked a hobby and stuck with it for a whole year. To celebrate, hosts Mike and Julia comb through the Billboard Chats and pick their favorite songs that went to #1.
The 80’s are back! In podcast form! Mike and Julia bring you a mix of the not-so-overplayed songs of the 1980s. Expect a lot of odd balls, “why’s?”, “ohhhh that song” and “you guys have weird taste” in this week’s show and less Duran Duran, Pet Shop Boys, and Wham! Throw your hair in a side pony tail, scrunch your socks and hop in your Delorean to listen!
Thunderdome is back BAYYYYBEEEEE! Now with rules! Sorta. Super Producer Christina did a great job of trying to keep us in line and we love her very much for that.
We are so so excited and honored to have rock photographer Lisa Johnson with us!!! From the first year in 1995 to photoing from the stage during the last band playing in 2018, she was and is the official Warped Tour Photographer. Listen in to hear Lisa talk all things Warped Tour with Julia and Mike.
Julia and Mike kinda maybe definitely overdid it during the holidays. We know you did too. Get fit and fab one rad workout song at a time.
For your listening pleasure, we bring you Jamaica Ska! A mixtape entirely devoted to our fav genre Jamaica Ska. This tape is the start of our Ska series, where we make our way through each wave of ska. We are big fans of this genre and it’s shaped us in very different but excellent ways.
Get your dancing shoes ready cuz it’s time to do the reggae!
In the last MM!PP! show of 2018 we thought we’d try something new. Welcome to our “Best Of Mix” show where Mike and Julia pick an influential or favorite band and make you a mixtape using only that band’s songs.
Kicking off this new style of mixtape of ours is R.E.M. They happen to be one of host Mike’s favorite bands ever! We go though each and every album, talk a lot, and pick our favorite songs off each. It’s a perfect mixtape for R.E.M. beginners and super fans alike!
It’s December. It’s officially ok to listen to Holiday music. Honestly, anything before December should be banned. Get your holiday groove on with Mike and Julia and some not-so-traditional songs for this upcoming Holiday season. One rule in this episode: No Mariah Carey allowed!!!! We love her, but seriously, let’s move on.
Black Friday is stressful. Music can be calming. NOT TODAY! in keeping with the spirit of Black Friday Madness Julia and Mike chose fast paced, rage inducing songs all under 2 minutes. Perfect for when you’re driving around the parking lot at the mall for an hour! Or when you’re in that 30 minute check out line! Or when you’re fighting that old lady for the last Tickle Me Elmo (is that still a thing?)
It’s Fall y’all! Or Autumn, depending on where you live. We pulled together a soothing selection of the most pumpkin-y songs to get you through the fall season. So grab your pumpkin blanket, your pumpkin drink, your pumpkin cookies, your pumpkin pumpkin, your pumpkin cat…..
Halloween is right around the corner y’all! MM! PP! fam is back with some extra spoopy creepy songs to get yourself in the mood for Halloween this year. It’s truly frightening how good these songs are! Whether you’re going trick-or-treat-ing, partying or trying to scare yourself on your drive home, we got the right songs to get you in the Halloweenie mood!
Laura Neptuna of The Neptunas, an all female pop punk-surf band, joins MM!PP! to play songs all about California. Laura was our first guest and best guest and chose a most excellent topic. California has so many beautiful songs written about it, so it was super difficult to pick from because we wanted to play everything. We hope we did our best to pay homage to our home.
No, we haven’t run out of ideas yet. In today’s show Mike and Julia choose their favorite cover songs with a twist! They can only use genre crossing cover songs. Ya gotta listen!
MM!PP! was given the awesome opportunity to fill in for Jimmy Alvarez on TNN Radio on 93.5 FM. Excuse the format we had to make it radio friendly so we played longer blocks of songs than normal.
It’s back to school season y’all! This playlist is all about songs that came out when the team graduated, 1993 & 2003!!!!
Julia and Mike go head to head in a musical battle royale (with cheese!) Who will win? Who’s gonna cry? Listen to find out!
Watch out Hollywood here comes Mike and Julia! In this new episode they pull together their own soundtracks, for their own moves, that they made up in their own heads!
Let's talk about all the good songs and the bad songs that may be. The kids get introspective and sad and pull together songs they'd want played at their funeral.
It's time to party y'all! Mike and Julia put a fun dance-worthy-in-your-room-while-you're-getting-ready mix for your weekend!
Be aware. Get upset. Get angry. Do something. Make a mixtape. Take action. But most importantly, be aware.
OooOoOh! The lost episode!! The kids pick out songs with women's names in the title. You'd think it'd be easy, but with the billions of choices out there, it proves difficult!
Julia and Mike rehash past relationships. They get sad, play some songs, and drink some cider. Really, truly, what more could you ask for?
Mike goes on a vacation to the UK so what better way to celebrate his return than to do an episode on our favorite UK bands. There's just a few rules: No Irish or Scottish (British only). And of course no Beatles or Rolling Stones because duh, everybody knows those.
In their very first show Mike and Julia introduce themselves to you via song. They say the word ska a lot, because guess what? They love ska! If you haven't been scared away based on description alone then take a listen!
